When The Sun Rises

3rd in the sunflower series, When The Sun Rises is a fresh, early morning take on what is unintentionally (!) becoming something of a hallmark of my painting style.

 

Commissioned as a close remake of the sunflowers in When The Sun Sets, I opted to play with the colours of the dawn instead of dusk this time. The landscape in the background takes inspiration from the hills of the Scottish borders, through which we hiked in August 2021.

Materials: High-quality Old Holland oil pigments, Winsor & Newton Oil Color Medium, and a Cotton Deep Edge Canvas.
