Loch at Low Tide
101 x 76cm Impasto Oil on Canvas

The second painting inspired by our Scottish Highlands holiday in the summer of 2021, Loch at Low Tide is a composition of my photos and memories of Loch Duich and our exploration of the Wester Ross.
I was captivated by this lonely boat, moored on the beach at low tide, surrounded by the most vivid yellow sea weed. Although it was the height of summer, it was a particularly moody, rainy day, and I loved how the yellow kelp and grim weather gave the landscape an autumn feel. And with that small, partially rusty boat practically lying on the beach, the scene was just perfect.
